We are excited to be hosting a Fall Fundraiser/Community Yard Sale to help raise funds for our Groom Creek Fire Department.
In recent months, our fire department has fallen on hard times and is struggling to stay afloat. Groom Creek Fire Department has 3 2-men crews. This is the minimum needed to make sure there is enough coverage to keep everyone safe in the event of an emergency. Right now, the fire department is having to spend more than they are bringing in. If Groom Creek Fire Department were to close, we, along with all of our neighbors, would be at a severe loss. We would have no fire department in our area. Other fire departments in surrounding areas do not have the funds to take on Groom Creek and would not be required to respond to a call for help should Groom Creek Fire Department close its doors. The thought of having no one to call if there’s a fire or medical emergency is unimaginable and it’s our duty to come together as a community and help.
It has always been our purpose to assist the church and that for us, also means community. We are excited to reach out beyond our walls and ask the community to participate and support our fire department as well as each other.
