PRESCOTT PINES

Important Update

Venture Church Network Southwest has begun the process of selling Prescott Pines Christian Camp. Why?

  1. To GROW Christian Camping influence in Arizona
  2. To FUND church planting (30 churches by 2030)

Inspired by Isaiah 54:2-3:

“Enlarge the place of your tent,

STRETCH your tent curtains wide, do not hold back;

STRENGTHEN your stakes.

For you will SPREAD out to the right and to the left…”

To stretch, strengthen & spread gospel-centered churches.

  • Stretch from 250 campers to 2000 campers. This will be accomplished by selling to United Christian Youth Camp (UCYC) of Prescott, AZ who will expand to 2000 beds.
  • Strengthen the churches and leaders in the Venture Church Network Southwest.
  • Spread to 30 new church plants by 2030

Why Now?

To be laser-focused on our mission.

Venture Church Network Southwest exists to help churches take bold next steps. VCNSW wants to see gospel-centered transformational churches in every community. We curate the strengths of churches and leaders in our network.

We realized we need to take bold next steps to focus on our primary mission: church planting and church health.

While at the same time, as church leaders we strongly believe in the POWER of CAMP.

Therefore, coming out of Covid, the board of VCNSW considered how camp can best flourish for the next 20 years while focusing on our primary mission.

“We reviewed appraisals and developer interest, but at the end of the day, our team had a strong desire to keep the camp doing kingdom work,” observed Steve Engram, Senior Pastor of Desert Community Church in Goodyear, AZ and Regional Executive of the Venture Church Network Southwest.

Steve continued, “Much to our amazement, God was working in the leadership of UCYC in Prescott.”

Thus enters UCYC.

They have been dreaming of expanding from 800 beds on 3 sites to 2000 over the next 10 years to create the highest quality, life-changing experience on one site, and Prescott Pines seems to be the perfect place to grow.

Therefore, the Board of Venture Church Network Southwest has unanimously agreed to enter a Letter of Intent with UCYC. This will provide UCYC 180 days of Due Diligence. If this agreement goes through it will empower a camp-focused organization who pioneers fun, quality experiences in a safe outdoor setting where the gospel is presented in loving relationships to grow and expand.

Summary:

    • Venture Church Network Southwest has entered into an agreement to sell Prescott Pines to UCYC
    • If, after the 180 days if Due Diligence goes through, Prescott Pines will close to guests March 1 2023 and complete escrow with UCYC May 1, 2023
    • All groups will be assisted in finding another camp
    • Staff will be cared for with job/career coaching and placement to financial help with severance and insurance
    • Venture Church Network Southwest will:
      • Retain and upgrade Groom Creek lodge for church leadership usage
